On Saturday, October 24, 2009 the 12U Suns faced the Sayreville Bombers in an early morning first game match-up in the North Brunswick Soccer Club 13th Annual Spook-A-Rama Tournament. The Suns struggled early in the game to put any pressure on the Bombers defense. After toughing out a hard fought first half, the Suns trailed at half time 1-0. In half number two, the Suns battled back with fierce defense that shut out the Bombers. Offensively, the Suns regained their composure and scored two goals to secure a 2-1 victory and remain unbeaten.
The Suns second game of the tournament was pitted against the North Brunswick Arsenal, one of the top teams in N.J. and the current U12 Champions of the Mid New Jersey Youth Soccer Association. The experienced and talented Arsenal controlled the game early against the formerly undefeated Suns. After trailing 3-0 at the break, the Suns defense stepped up to hold the powerful Arsenal to 1 scored shot on goal. A penalty kick cost one more goal for a final score of 5-0. |
